Size guide
Tell us the space, the people or the viewing distance. We show the size to ask for. It is a starting point, and we confirm the final size from your plan or BOQ.
Cooling size by sq ft and rooms
Capacity comes from the area and the use of the space. The number of rooms decides how many indoor units you need, and whether a split, multi-split or VRF system fits.
Rule of thumb: 90 to 150 sq ft per tonne, depending on the use.
TV size by viewing distance
Sit too close to a big screen and you see pixels. Sit too far from a small one and you lose detail. Enter how far you sit and we suggest the size.
Rule of thumb: for 4K, sit about 1.4 times the screen diagonal away.
Panel or screen for a meeting room
The farthest seat decides how large the screen must be to read text. The head count tells you when to move from a panel to a video wall.
Rule of thumb: the farthest viewer sits within about six screen heights.
Video wall from wall size
Enter the wall width and height. We show how many 55 inch narrow-bezel screens make up the wall.
A 55 inch screen is about 4 ft wide and 2.25 ft high.
Refrigerator litres by family size
Capacity depends on how many people you feed and how you shop. Bulk buying and frozen food need more space.
Direct-cool 45 to 260 L, frost-free 200 to 450 L, side-by-side 500 to 850 L.
Washer capacity in kg
For homes, capacity follows the family size. For hotels, hospitals and laundries, it follows the kilograms of linen washed in a day.
Home machines run 6.5 to 21 kg. Industrial washer-extractors go to 130 kg.
Dishwasher size
Homes size a dishwasher in place settings. Commercial kitchens size it in dishes an hour.
Domestic 6 to 14 place settings, built-in 8 to 16, commercial 50 to 1,000+ dishes an hour.
Microwave type and litres
Reheating needs only a solo oven. Grilling needs a grill model. Baking needs convection.
Solo 17 to 25 L, grill 20 to 28 L, convection 25 to 32 L and above.
Chimney suction and width
A chimney is sized by kitchen volume, the number of burners and how heavily you cook.
Heavy frying needs more suction. Add margin for long or bent ducts.
Cold room volume or deep freezer litres
For a cold room, enter the tonnes you store and whether the product is chilled or frozen. For a deep freezer, enter the kilograms of food.
Chilled stores at 0 to 4°C, frozen at -18°C or below.
Water cooler capacity
Capacity depends on how many people drink from it at peak hours.
Rule of thumb: about 0.4 litres an hour for each person.
